Project Details

Jenny Lind Elementary School's preK through fifth grade classrooms will extend their partnership with the Children's Theatre Company, using theater to transform arts learners from observers to storytellers.

Arts learners will deepen their understanding and expand use of theater strategies in learning literacy through their bodies, voice, and imagination. Teachers and teaching artists will observe students using a theatre arts, public speaking and social emotional rubrics. Students and teachers will reflect on the assessment rubrics during their planning time. 2: Arts learners will deepen their understanding and expand their use of theater strategies in teaching literacy via bodies, voice, and imagination. Teachers will complete a personal practice pre/post survey and established rubric to assess their own understanding of how to use theatre arts to explore literacy skills.
