FilmNorth's mission is to empower artists to tell their stories, launch and sustain successful careers, and advance The North as a leader in the national network of independent filmmakers. We achieve our mission by nurturing a vibrant, diverse community of film and media artists; providing education and resources at every stage of their careers; and celebrating their achievements.

FilmNorth activities result in more Minnesotans from all backgrounds having the access and ability to utilize filmmaking to tell their stories. Access is measured by the number of people participating, demographics, and intensity of engagement. Ability is measured through surveys and assessment of the work created in classes and workshops. 2: Artists create deeper connections with one another to share resources and collaborate. Connectivity is measured by the number of attendees at networking events, surveys, the number of projects created collaboratively by FilmNorth members, and discussions with filmmakers.

Measurable Outcome(s)

FilmNorth activities resulted in more Minnesotans from all backgrounds accessing and utilizing film to tell their stories. FilmNorth measured the number of people participating and compared that number to prior years, tracked the demographics of participants, and used surveys to measure the intensity of engagement. 2: Artists participating in FilmNorth activities created deeper connections and share resources and collaborate. FilmNorth measured the number of attendees at networking events, assessed surveys from classes and the FilmNorth Forum and had formal and informal discussions with member filmmakers.
