Kaplan will research lapidary arts and create a new body of work incorporating hand cut stones collected from several regions of the state into sterling silver and stone inlay jewelry.

The applicant will research traditional lapidary techniques and create a new body of work with locally acquired stones based on her research. There will be a public exhibition of the new body of work to display the new techniques and influences gathered during the research period. 2: The applicant will engage with the community through two public events including a demonstration and exhibition and presentation. Feedback will be solicited via email addresses collected at the two public events. The applicant will also follow up with the hosts of the events in order to evaluate their success.
