To restore several Dakota City building exteriors on the fairgrounds, in collaboration with Dakota City Heritage Village. These local structures that portray a 1900 era rural village include the 1867 Vermillion Presbyterian Church, the belfry of the District 96 one room school, and the 1861 frame structure that was originally built as a school and most recently used as the millinery and dressmaker’s shop.

Caponi Art Park contracted with the Dakota County Historical society to survey and assess the general condition of the many materials in their collection documenting the history of the organization and it's founder, Anthony Caponi. As a result the Caponi Art Park organization now knows the size of the collection, the staff are properly trained and professional systems and policies have been implemented that document and present an informative, usable collection.

The Dakota County Historical Society (DCHS) worked with a graphic designer to develop several templates for exhibit guides.  The exhibit guides are short publications that promote and/or provide additional information about topics featured in DCHS exhibits and programs.  Three different templates were developed, a two-sided 4" x 9" promotional card, a traditional three-fold brochure, and a booklet 5.5" x 8.5" that can be scaled in four-page increments.  Each of these guides is immediately recognizable as a product of DCHS.

In order to grow the capacity of the organization to preserve and interpret history a consultant was hired by the DCHV to lead selected members and the board through the Standards and Excellence Program for History Organizations' (StEPs) self-assessment program.

The process involved the completion of six segments of the StEPs workbook. The results of the process included a reviewal of policies and procedures, the identification of areas for improvement and the development of a next steps plan. The organization now has an improved mission statement and direct, specific goals.

To reconstruct interment records of the Lone Oak Lutheran Cemetery, a subscription service-cemetery software developer was contracted to manage cemetery records. The cloud-based solution is economical, saving on hardware costs and data storage. The yearly subscription saves on periodic high-cost upgrades. A new updated cemetery map was also generated by the service. After cross-checking the data it was entered as planned. The cemetery information has been shared with the Dakota County Historical Society, making it more accessible to the public.
